Our Washington State Certified Apprentice Program can be completed in 4 years or less, depending on your prior experience in the Automotive Industry. Our program combines weekly online classes with on the job training. The ultimate goal: For you to earn the title of Master Technician. This will enable you to have very high earning wages.
What are the position responsibilities for an Apprentice Technician?
- Every Apprentice starts with an introductory period to ensure that this program and our team is the best fit for their career.
- This is a full-time position, with a Monday-Friday work week.
- Apprentice Technicians are assigned an in-shop Mentor to assist them on their journey.
- Collaborate with your assigned mentor for any assigned work to meet your current apprentice level.
- Through the Washington State iTAC Apprenticeship Program, complete predetermined On The Job Training hours.
- Complete weekly online education modules provided by the state program.
- During the program Apprentices will learn to properly diagnose, maintain, and repair automotive systems.
- These systems include: vehicle inspections, shop safety, engine repair, automatic transmission & trans axle, manual drivetrain & axle, suspension & steering, brakes, electrical/electronics, heating, ventilation, A/C, and engine performance.
- Complete the Related Supplemental Instruction (RSI) modules timely in accordance with the iTAC requirements.
- Submit the monthly work progress timecard to Human Resources timely.
- Diagnose the cause of any malfunction & perform correct repair(s).
- Perform a digital vehicle inspection (DVI) on every vehicle.
- Perform work as outlined on the work order with efficiency & accuracy. Adhere to both shop & factory standards.
- Follow the set guidelines by using correct procedures, manuals, diagrams & safety protocols.
- Must comply with safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) & shop procedures.
- Report any unsafe or negligent actions or repairs to the Production Manager immediately.
- Test drive all vehicles before & after services. Use diagnostic tools & special service equipment to test components & systems.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, services performed, and parts used. Including documentation of the diagnostic results & recommendations.
- Immediately communicate with the Service Advisor if any additional work is needed.
- Correctly & adequately document & explain repairs, issues & recommended services for our customers.
- Execute repairs under warranty to the manufacturer specifications.
- Perform auto care & maintenance tasks. This includes oil services, fluid checks, heating & cooling inspections, tire inspections, and more.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Responsible for keeping the bay area, shop area, & lunchroom clean, organized & safe at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- "Pickle" all vehicles; to include vacuuming & cleaning windows.
How does our pay work?
- Apprentice Technician Pay Range: $37,024 - $58,614 Annually.
- Pay is dependent on experience & skill level. Pay progression is determined by the Apprentice Program.
- Weekly bonuses can also be earned for current ASE Certifications and team productivity.

What are some requirements for an Apprentice Technician?
- Must have a high school diploma or GED. Or be enrolled in an iTAC approved High School or College Automotive Program.
- A valid state driver's license & a satisfactory driving record are required.
- Must obtain 609 Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Must test for two ASEs per year until A1-A8 Certifications are obtained.
- Have the ability to follow instructions with a strong attention to detail.
- Have the ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Have the ability to use power & hand tools.
- Have excellent communication & organizational skills.
What are the physical & mental demands and working conditions?
- Must be able to walk & stand for long periods of time.
- Work involves repetitive movements; such as, bending, reaching, stretching, kneeling, stooping, crouching & crawling.
- Must have hand and eye coordination.
- Must have excellent manual dexterity & fine motor skills.
- Must have the ability to reach above head for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with odors present.
- Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements; such as, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- There is considerable physical activity involved.
- Work requires heavy physical work; such as, heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of required objects up to 50 pounds.
- Physical work is a primary part of the job (more than 70%).
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require you to follow basic safety precautions.
