How do free brakes fight breast cancer? This fundraiser began in 2011 with five Automotive Repair Shops in Cleveland, Ohio. Now it has grown to hundreds of Independent Auto Repair Shops across the United States and Canada! At the end of each fundraising season we add up the total parts and labor of all brake services completed during the campaign. Then we donate 10% of the total directly to Dr. Vincent Tuohy and the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Research Fund. Over the last 11 years this fundraiser has raised over $1.4 Million dollars towards research for the breast cancer vaccine.

What is a Breast Cancer Vaccine? Most vaccines are meant to prevent disease. The Breast Cancer Vaccine is no different! The Cleveland Clinic is completing research towards a Preventative Breast Cancer Vaccine. Their vaccine is designed to prevent triple-negative breast cancer.
What is Triple-Negative Breast Cancer? Triple-Negative Breast Cancer makes up approximately 15% of all breast cancer. It is the most aggressive and lethal form of breast cancer. The main reason is because treatment has not been as good at curing it as it has been for other subtypes.
Thanks to the Vaccine Research Fund, they are now in Phase 1 of the Trials. They are focusing first on women who are currently being treated for triple-negative breast cancer. Their goal is to get to a place where women can take this vaccine before they even develop breast cancer.
