The Automotive Technology Students Visit Graham Auto Repair
At Graham Auto Repair, investing in the next generation of automotive technicians is a priority. In December we had the privilege of visiting the Pierce County Skills Center. We shared automotive industry insights with the "Automotive Technology Program" students. Last week the students visited our shop, where we gave them an inside look at how a professional auto repair shop operates.

Behind The Scenes Look at the Automotive Industry
Students in the Automotive Technology Program at the Pierce County Skills Center are actively preparing for careers in the automotive industry. While not every student will pursue this career after high school, this program gives them a strong foundation to stem from. They are provided with firsthand exposure to the industry, helping them make informed decisions about their future.
Programs like this are incredibly valuable; not just for students, but for the future of the automotive industry as a whole. That’s why we’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with the instructors at the Pierce County Skills Center and encourage these students as they prepare to step into the workforce after high school.
What the Students Experienced at Graham Auto Repair
During their visit, students received a guided tour of our shop. We walked them through the tools of the trade, discussed expectations for technicians at different levels, and provided real-world insight into what it takes to thrive in this industry.
Some of the key takeaways included:
✅ Understanding the requirements and expectations for different levels of technicians
✅ The importance of critical thinking and problem-solving in diagnostics and repairs
✅ The reality of the industry—both the challenges and the rewards
✅ Tools and equipment that technicians use daily
✅ What employers look for when hiring entry-level technicians
Their instructor asked our team to share the "cold hard truths" about the automotive industry—things students might not learn from a textbook. This included insights into the physical demands of the job, the importance of ongoing education, and the mindset needed to build a successful career in automotive repair.
Why do these experiences matter? We believe that sharing these types of insights will set them up for further success!
At Graham Auto Repair, we believe in supporting and growing future technicians. Programs like the one at the Pierce County Skills Center are invaluable for building strong foundations in automotive repair and setting students up for success. We’re proud to be part of a community that prioritizes education and career development. By partnering with schools like this, we’re helping to equip students with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive in this industry.
We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to connect with these students, answer their questions, and encourage them as they take their first steps into the world of automotive repair. The automotive industry needs passionate, hardworking individuals, and we’re excited to see where these students go next!
